Kartik’s 40th

I shot a 40th birthday event at Stone Brew a month or so ago, and can you tell he’s a Dodger fan? Ha! The venue, music, decor and vibe were on pointe. Can my 40th be this rad please? Happiest of all birthdays Kartik, it was a fun night.

Maruccia Session

I haven’t been the best at blogging about my sessions, so I thought I would start up again with this session I did FEBRUARY. (gahhhh! Don’t judge me!) Anyhow, this family was just the cutest. And how beautiful is mom’s mermaid hair? Yes please. My fave though, is the last image. That lab…. couldn’t be any cuter, right? Enjoy.

Sunday turns Seven.

Seven facts about Sunday:

  1. She was born on a Friday in the same hospital that Finn, Wes and I were born at.
  2. She was almost going to be named Josephine, we would have called her Joey.
  3. She reads at a fourth grade level.
  4. She is the worlds slowest eater.
  5. She is incredibly athletic.
  6. She is the spitting image of her father. We call her the Asian, girl version of Wes.
  7. Her middle name is Drew, which is also her fathers middle name.

Sunday is all things I wish I could naturally be. She is outgoing, talkative, engaging, intriguing, smart brilliant, kind, fierce, confident, athletic, and loving. Truly, she is the most beautiful little girl I have ever met and I am SO very lucky that she is MY daughter. My heart is full of gratitude for this little being we call ours.

Miss Sunday Drew, make all the wishes you want in this world and I know they will most definitely all come true. If you can dream it, you can do it girl. I love you.

Veggies Don’t Bite

I recently got to photograph a friend of my mine, Sophia. She is the mastermind behind Veggies Don’t Bite, a vegan recipe blog. Simply said, her recipes are not only innovative but DEEEEEEEE-LISH! When I went vegan for a couple years her recipes were a main staple in our house. Pistachio buffalo sauce? Yes please. Sweet potato tacos?  YES, YES, YES!

I’m beyond excited for her because guess what? She’s getting published! Aaaaaand guess who she asked to photograph her and her family for her cookbook? Little old me. She is proof that hard work, consistency, and perseverance pay off. I’m so happy for you Sophia and I could not be more honored to be a part of this journey. xo, C.

Want to see the recipes I’m talking about?

Follow her on INSTAGRAM or on FACEBOOK to see the yumminess!

I love photographing fellow fire families, like this one. What a joy it was to spend the (cold) and beautiful afternoon with them. Enjoy!

I talk often about my kids not being attached to electronics, I am not a big propionate of it. Yet, so much of my job has to do with being on some sort of device, doing something with that electronic, whether it be emailing, advertising, posting on Facebook or instgram, and now blogging. I feel like a hypocrite often time when I tell them no electronics and minutes later go to edit photos or return an email. But that being said, I will do everything that I can to allow my kids to be electronic free. Because there is such beauty and fun in the world without it. They can imagine,

they can play with nature,

and explore.

They can take in the beauty that is so blatantly in front of them and be present in the moment, something I am learning so desperately to do.

In a time which boredom does not exist, I encourage you to be bored and to figure out how to cure that boredom sans electronics, or even better yet, learn to just be. This is something I’m working on everyday.

I encourage you to do it, even if it is only for a day, a week, but hopefully more.

Valentines Day Minis

I always do Valentines Day mini sessions, but this year I wanted to do something a little more subtle and less ‘propy.’ We have this rad friend who let me borrow his car for this session. And can I tell you, I loved it!  These clients were determined to get them done… with all this rain, we rescheduled a few times, but that’s what I love about my clients, they won’t let a little mud and rain get in the way of some photos to celebrate love.

And of course I had to throw my kids in there. You wouldn’t believe it but about 10 seconds before I shot this they were elbowing each other, fighting. Why is it that they are sometimes (if not all the time) the most difficult clients?? Aye, yai, yai. *I’m rolling my eyes at this very moment*

Happy Valentines Day Lovers!
